January 15, 2026 Program – A Multidisciplinary Approach to Healthcare Team Member Response and Recovery from Workplace Violence Events
A collaborative program with the DC EAPA Chapter
Presented by:
Kathleen Crowley, LCSW-C
Objectives:
- Identify key gaps in existing workplace violence (WPV) response processes, particularly when employees are victims, and explain how those gaps were addressed — including cases where employees choose to pursue criminal charges.
- Explain the process developed at SGMC to close identified WPV response gaps and improve support for affected employees.
- Describe actionable recommendations and considerations for other organizations seeking to implement a similar WPV response process, with a focus on identifying and leveraging internal and external resources.
- Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the origins of EAP’s, understand their contemporary role in supporting employee mental well-being (especially as it relates to workplace violence).
An email will be sent with the ZOOM link after January 5, 2026. If you wish to join our chapter please complete the contact form at the end of our website.
Check in is at 8:45 AM. The program begins promptly at 9 AM and finished at 11 AM

Collaboration with DC EAPA Chapter Summary
A planning meeting was held with some of the DC EAPA Chapter officers. We decided collectively to pool our resources, related to programming. To that end, the Chesapeake Chapter will move its monthly meetings to the third Thursday of each month. We will alternate program responsibility. We believe that this will benefit both Chapters, in terms of attendance, continued program quality and networking.
